We have a laying flock of Kacki Campbells. Our Kackies are pasture ra
I have not been in the show ring nearly as long as many other breeders but thanks to the wonderful stock that I started with I have had huge success. Our birds have taken home multiple Best of Variety Best of Breed awards, as well as champion featherleg. My price Splash Hen, Marylin, even brought home Grand show Champion at her very first show! I have been working hard to secure and enhance her lines in our flock.
Our silkies were our very first livestock. I started to show them before we even purchased our farm. They will always have a special place in my heart.
Our Silkies are bearded bantam silkies and the colors that we breed and show are Blue, Black and Splash. I am in love with so many other colors but this was what we have started with and have been successful with so for now this is where we will stay. Silkies are beyond far my favorite chicken. They are small, super fluffy and very gentle. They are the perfect breed for a family pet, someone with small children or people like me who are obsessed with Kerfluffles!
In the summer we will have pullets and cockerels available. Birds will be listed either as pet or breed quality. (some breeders will post that their chicks or eggs are show quality. I hesitate to do this because until a bird, especially a silkie, is fully mature there is no way of knowing how it will hold up in the show ring. Unless you are purchasing a bird that is proven and has been shown, be wary of the breeder who promises "show quality".)
A note about young birds. Some breeds of chickens are able to be sexed at an extremely young age. Silkies are not one of them. Even the most seasoned and experienced breeder can be wrong when it comes to sexing a silkie before the age of 5 months. The common rule for silkies is " you do not know, until they crow".
In the spring and summer months we are hatching for next years shows. We do occasionally have chicks as well as hatching eggs for sale.
If you are interested in acquiring hatching eggs from us you can join our waiting list. I am very picky about our breeding program. Our flock is small and I hatch and grow out the majority of what our hens produce. Due to this our stock sells very quickly. We are sold out of silkies for 2015
